The President of the intergovernmental cconference, Ambassador Rena Lee, announced that the fourth session of the intergovernmental cconference will take place in-person from 7 -18 March 2022 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Per the COVID-19 pandemic protocols, limitatioins will be imposed on the number of Member State delegates that will be allowed in the conference room.

Observers (i.e., intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations) will not be able to enter the UN premises as part of the COVID-19 protoccol. That said, there may be a possibility that the UNHQ will relax its protocol in March. How the observers may participate (possibly via livestream) will be announced in due course.
