## What work is being undertaken to prepare for the convening of the first meeting of the BBNJ Treaty's Conference of the Parties?

On 14 April 2024, the UN General Assembly (Resolution 78/272) established the Preparatory Commission (PrepCom) to prepare for the entry into force of the BBNJ Treaty and the convening of the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties.

### Dates of meetings

- **Organizational meeting** was held from 24-26 June 2024.
- **First session** was held from 14-25 April 2025.
- **Second session** was held from 18-29 August 2025.
- **Third session** will be held from 23 March to 2 April 2026.

Official meetings of the Third session of the PrepCom (23 March to 2 April 2026) will be broadcast on [UN Web TV](https://webtv.un.org/en), from 10 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm (ET). If there are side events during lunch time (1:00 to 3:00 pm), some may be broadcast on UN Web TV.
